Latest Updates from Our Project:

Stop the clock! Cancel the apocalypse!
almost 7 years ago – Thu, Apr 05, 2018 at 01:35:14 AM

We were born into a world at war. Between the monsters that destroyed our cities and the monsters we created to stop them. We thought we had sacrificed enough, but the war we thought we finished is just beginning. And the only thing standing in front of the apocalypse is us.

The Pacific Rim: Extinction Kickstarter has finished. Thank you so much for joining us on this monstrous journey.

With less than 30 minutes to spare you rangers fired everything you had to unlock Scrapper and the Scrapper Upgrade Card – AMAZING!

We will now create the Upgrade Card and include the Scrapper miniature in all pledges of Extinction and Miracle Mile.

Well done everyone - thanks to you we’ve been able to create a strong retail range and gather feedback that will directly improve the game.

We finished over 520% funded, far beyond our expectations. We hope you enjoyed the campaign and look forward to the awesome goodies you’ve got coming!

In terms of next steps, we’ll be releasing the pledge manager soon where you will be able to let us know what you want for your pledge amount, pay your shipping and set your delivery details.

Look out for email notifications – it’s important you complete the pledge manager otherwise you won’t get your goodies!

Until the next update, stay safe Rangers.

Good night!

Titan Redeemer Unlocked; Scrapper Next!
almost 7 years ago – Thu, Apr 05, 2018 at 12:31:31 AM

Stretch Goal Broken!

It’s the final day of Pacific Rim: Extinction on Kickstarter and we’ve only gone and broken through Titan Redeemer!

This means a new expansion set is now available to add-on and it’s included free in the Miracle Mile pledge level as well. Great work Rangers!

We're also adding 1x Jaeger Ranger Card and 1x Jaeger Upgrade Card to the Gipsy Danger Expansion Set at no extra cost too, included free in Extinction and up!

There's still time to get one more…

£180,000 – Scrapper + Scrapper Upgrade Card

If we break this stretch goal, we’re going to create a Scrapper Upgrade Card so that you can use her to boost your Jaegers in-game.

Then, as a final thank you for your support, we're going to make a collectible Scrapper miniature and include one free in pledges of Extinction (£65 and EB) and Miracle Mile.

She’ll be metal, unpainted, and around 15-20mm tall, something like that. As Scrapper was one of the standouts from Pacific Rim Uprising, we think it’s awesome to make a model of her, and we hope you agree.

We’ll be offering her as a promotional miniature at conventions and the like, meaning she’s going to be a rarity, and we hope she becomes a treasured part of your miniatures collection.

Let's get after her!

Coyote Tango Preview

We have had the sculpt for Coyote Tango completed – check it out and let us know what you think!

We’ve also updated graphics that include Striker Eureka and Crimson Typhoon and replaced the movie stills with their 3D sculpts.

Note that Coyote Tango, Crimson Typhoon and Striker Eureka are included free in the Miracle Mile pledge level.

Final Day Stretch Goal, Red Kaiju Dice and More!
almost 7 years ago – Wed, Apr 04, 2018 at 12:37:59 AM

The time has come – there’s just over 24 hours to go until the close of the Pacific Rim: Extinction Kickstarter. We’re over 450% funded and that’s all thanks to you. Thank you for your support.

Since we're so close to unlocking Valor Omega, in this bumper update:

  • A NEW Scrap-tacular Stretch Goal
  • 2 New Optional Buys: Red Kaiju Dice and Drone Kaiju Bundle
  • Titan Redeemer: Updated Stretch Goal Revealed
  • Revealed: Double-sided Core Game Mat

That means there’s just about something for everyone. Let’s get started…

Valor Omega:

We’ve nearly there! The Valor Omega Expansion Set is almost unlocked...

£170,000 – Titan Redeemer Jaeger Expansion Set

In addition to unlocking the Titan Redeemer Expansion Set as an optional buy and including it free in Miracle Mile, we're also going to add 1x Jaeger Ranger Card and 1x Jaeger Upgrade Card to the Gipsy Danger Expansion Set at no extra cost.

This means extra gameplay options for all Extinction (EB and £65 backers) and up!

But we're not done yet:

NEW! £180,000 – FREE Scrapper + Scrapper Upgrade Card!

As many of you will know, we had intended to stop at Titan Redeemer as our final stretch goal for this Kickstarter, but we just couldn’t resist one more – a token of our appreciation for your support and hanging out with us until the end.

We hope you like this new final goal.

New Optional Buys

We’ve been inundated with feedback for expansions, optional add-ons and rules requests and, whilst we’ve tried to do as many of them as we can, we’re not always able to do everything. Two of the suggestions that have been lingering are for these two next optional buys, which we’ve worked hard on being able to bring you.

Red Kaiju Combat Dice - £8

Get a set of 16 Combat Dice, in Kaiju Red!

Drone Kaiju Bundle - £40 (Buy 2, get 1 free!)

Ever since Pacific Rim Uprising hit theatres we’ve been asked for a Drone Kaiju bundle, and hear it is!

This bundle contains 3 Drone Kaiju Expansion Sets. Note that all the miniatures are identical, we’re only able to offer one pose, but for the hobbyists and converters out there, this shouldn’t be a problem.

NOTE: One Drone Kaiju Expansion Set is already included in the Miracle Mile Pledge - this bundle is for if you want to get extra Drone Kaiju.

Double-sided mat!

Another popular request which we’re able to do. The game mat included in the core set will be produced with a second side, so that you can flip it over and have a different battlefield to play on.

We think this will have some sort of sea-theme, perhaps a sea front. We look forward to sharing the art with you in post-campaign updates to come.

And finally...

We hope you’ve enjoyed the ride so far, and look forward to sharing in the last 24 hours with you.

Can we get Valor Omega, Titan Redeemer and Scrapper before tomorrow evening? Start the clock!

Alessio Cavatore (Designer) Rules Q&A Summary

On Saturday night, Alessio Cavatore took to the River Horse Facebook page to answer some rules questions, following the release of the WIP rulebook last Friday. Here’s a round-up if you missed it!

Do you have any plans for organised play?
Yes, we are planning demo kits for stores and tournament packs, for sure!

How do you feel about possibly doing a beginners and an expert version of the rules?
That is not currently in the plans. It will be interesting to see what type of audience plays the game the most and then, catering for different audiences is indeed a good idea.

Will the rest of the Mk 1 Jaegers and early Kaiju be coming along? That entirely depends on the success of the game system. If it proves very successful, we can delve into the 'minor' jaegers/kaiju, and we can even create new ones - how would you like a 'design your own Jaeger/Kaiju expansion one day?!

How durable do you feel models are in the game? How often do you see one-hit-kills?
Often the armour is a little higher than the power, so it's not that every attack causes damage... so it feels like you have to work hard to inflict damage (particularly as a Jaeger)... One-hit kills do happen, but it's quite rare. We like that it is a possibility though…

In the rulebook there are ppdc buildings that let you reload ammo can the kaiju destroy these?
Yes indeed, the kaiju can destroy these [almost] as easily.

Can you comment on some of the rules suggestion that were posted on the KS comment section after the rules were made available? Any in particular you agree with or would consider the implementing, or strongly disagree with? I have to say I was very positively impressed by most of the rules comments. Some of them are very much along the lines of some things we were already considering. For example, 30 degrees turns as alternative to 60 degrees... by which I mean something as simple as 'you can take a 60 degreee pivot OR a 30 degree pivot.' Now we need to work out how to implement that into the hex gauge... and make sure that it does not break the sytem!!!

Is there a theoretical 'maximum' game size that has come out of playtesting? We quite often get together to play bigger games as a collective, would love PRE to be on the games list. The fact that there is no hex grid means you can play on any surface, and indeed we have played it on a 6x4 table, which looked quite awesome. There is no thorethical maximum size, but of course the more models, the more players, the more surface and, especially, the more time!

Alessio, any insight on the three-pilot drift mechanism? Love the two-pilot mechanic incidentally. It's just the same as the two-pilot one. +1 SKL per connection, and all abilities activate. So it can be quite powerful!

When moving a model, you have to be able to place the model at every step. Do you also need space to "slide" from one step to another? You do need to be able to slide indeed, and that is why the Hex Gauge has a straight side as well as a Hex shaped one. Notice how the straight side of the Hex Gauge is as wide as your front side plus the corner of the hex side to your left (or right)... indeed this would work better with a diagram... I think we must add this to the rulebook.

Shipping News

Miracle Mile - option to ship as one wave

Good news! One of the things that was requested was that if a backer was prepared to wait a little longer, could their Miracle Mile pledge be shipped as a single package to make shipping cheaper - and the answer is yes!

Backers will have the option to select their Miracle Mile pledge level to ship in a single package alongside Wave 3 (estimated June 2019), for those who wish to wait and receive all their rewards together.

Estimated Miracle Mile shipping

We will be charging shipping based on actual cost during the pledge manager, which will be open for a long period after the Kickstarter campaign ends.

The cost of each wave is estimated to be similar to the cost of the Extinction level shipping cost. Wave 1 is estimated to be slightly higher, while the other waves will be lighter and smaller, so will be slightly cheaper.

Thanks again to everyone, and see you soon!
