‘State of Play’ Update - Where we are, and where we’re going!

It’s been a busy couple of days for all of us here at River Horse, but we wanted to take a moment to stop and properly say thanks. So:
Thank you to all backers who have helped make Pacific Rim: Extinction a reality. We are delighted that we’ll be able to make this game and bring it to the gaming tables of all you Pacific Rim fans!
We want to talk a little bit about where we are now, before showing you a bit of what’s to come.
All backers of this project will be getting the Pacific Rim: Extinction core set, which includes all the rules you need to play the game, tokens, cards, and two miniatures with accompanying profile sheets (the Jaeger Conn-Pod, and Kaiju Signature), upgrades, and mutations.
We want this game to bring the awesome fight scenes of the Pacific Rim movies to your gaming table, so ensuring that the miniatures look the part is very important. For that reason, we knew we wanted to over fully painted, detailed miniatures that truly capture to massive scale of the Jaegers and Kaiju. For example, the Gipsy Avenger miniature is 75mm, while Shrikethorn is 115mm to the tip of the tails! All models will be in scale relative to the others, so they size up exactly how they do in the movie. Trust us, these models look absolutely fantastic on the table.
With the help of our backers, we’ve also been able to increase the amount of cards, terrain and 3D buildings in the core set. This has increased the amount of customisation options, and added more diversity to the gameplay. These cards can be used to customise any Jaeger or Kaiju you have!
Beyond the core set, many backers have also pledged for expansions, which bring more Jaegers and Kaiju to the game, in the same scale and painted quality of the core set models. They also each come with a Conn-Pod or Kaiju Signature, and Upgrade cards & Rangers or Mutations. Some of these will be specific to the Jaeger or Kaiju in that expansion, others will be generic, which means each expansion not only introduces a new choice of Jaeger or Kaiju, but also expands your options for every model in your collection!
These expansions are available as optional buys, which can be purchased by increasing your pledge amount by the cost of the expansion(s) you would like. We have made these optional add-ons in order to keep the cost of the core set as low as possible. This way, the core set remains accessible for everyone, and is still the perfect way to get started at low cost.
The large size and high quality of the miniatures means that each one has high value, both in terms of production, but also gameplay. A single Jaeger or Kaiju can make a huge difference to a team in Pacific Rim: Extinction.

As we break through more stretch goals, we have big plans for what comes next. As many backers have been asking about content from the first Pacific Rim movie, we want to give just a little sneak peak at some of the content we have in store:

Also coming up soon, we have gameplay video content in the works, as well as a PDF download of the main game rules. We would love everyone to take a look at the game, and we’re especially keen to hear your feedback. We’ll talk more about the way we’re going to do this soon.
