It is the start of a new year, and this year wave 2 will arrive. We know you have all waited a long time, but the light is visible now. As stated in the previous update, our suppliers are forecasting a best-case scenario of models shipping out of China in April, or a worst-case scenario in May.  So we're looking at a early summer delivery to you guys. This has not changed as of writing this, but we will let you know if it does. 

In anticipation for this, we have decided to give you all frequent little updates until we get there. These are going to be used to highlight one of the upcoming models, giving you all a little more of a look at what to expect! So without further ado here is today's spotlight:

Hi everyone, since the last update it has been a very rocky period, a mix of checking the news nervously, talking to our suppliers and having internal discussions about the risks involved in restarting Wave 2 (what will the effects of major events like Covid, trade wars, Brexit, etc. be on production, shipping, fulfilment...?). 

In the end, with this much uncertainty in the future, we decided that we simply cannot wait for 'normality' to come back, and instead we had to be optimistic and just crack on with Wave 2, and face any issues if they present themselves – in the words of Marshal Pentecost: 

• "Today, at the edge of our hope, at the end of our time, we have chosen not only to believe in ourselves, but in each other. Today we face the monsters that are at our door, today we are cancelling the apocalypse!"

We are delighted to say that we have now restarted the process that was interrupted by lockdown/furlough so many months ago. Here below are the photographs we have taken of the final production samples of Wave 2 models that we have been sent by our supplier. All the pre-production work on modelling and painting is done. These models are approved, and are going into injection for mass production as soon as a slot opens up at our supplier. 

And here they are!

Speaking of timing, the supplier tells us that they are not able to give us a completely accurate estimate of production schedule, because of course we are not the only company that is restarting production now, and they have the Xmas and Chinese New Year holidays coming on, so it remains to be seen what that will mean in terms of their workforce, particularly because of the pandemic. 

Said that, they are working as fast as they can, and at the moment, they are forecasting a best-case scenario of models shipping out of China in April, or a worst-case scenario in May.  So we're looking at a late spring delivery to you guys. We'll keep you posted with any developments. 

Hopefully, that will be perfect timing and will coincide with a period when people will finally be allowed to meet again, so that we'll all be able to use our new kaiju and Jaegers in games of Pacific Rim: Extinction with our friends (and enemies)!
